The Miracle Mile Residence is a dream and a promise; it’s both wholly new and completely familiar. Every element, material and species, is in friendly conversation with its context, and unfolds the garden a series of unexpected views and experiences.
The project includes reimagining of every exterior space, entry, driveway, courtyard, dining terrace, pool, and deck.
Significantly we planted an aspirational test patch of leymus triticoides Lagunita grass in hopes of finding a textured and evergreen path through the increasing intense Southern California heat and summer water restrictions the make common lawn species unworkable.
The grass, like many of us really, thrives when taking a risk, encourages to be its expressive self. It cleans up nice too, but when left to its own passionate ways is a welcomed counterpoint to the methodical landscape.
